Overview
We carry only the Power Expander by Smart Fly. I think that they are best values available for people who want to have control over the voltage to their servos independent from the receiver and/or want multiple outputs for their receiver outputs and want redundant power sources to operate all of the plane. If you run 2, 3 or 4 servos on each aileron and want to plug them directly into the power source, now you can! If you have 2, 3 or 4 servos on your rudder or 2 on each elevator, you can now plug them all into the power expander. The Power Expanders can handle 30 servos (depending on the model)! Each servo has a clean signal to it and any interference coming from the servo to the receiver is filtered out. There are 30 separate filters (depending on model)! Plug in two batteries into two separate ports for complete redundancy of power. As long as one of the two ports is receiving power the receiver is powered and the power is regulated by its own built in 5v regulator. No extra battery pack with switch and charging jack is required to power the receiver which greatly simplifies the power system. It was always such a pain to have a small battery and switch and regulator for the receiver, that's gone with this system. Also if that one small battery or switch or regulator to the receiver malfunctioned, since there was no redundancy, the receiver would not operate and really bad things would happen. This will provide a lot of redundancy and filter out stray signals so your plane will stay in control during a wide variety of malfunctions. Remember you are not only saving thousands of dollars of equipment you have in the plane, but you will also avoid endangering peoples lives and their personal property because an out of control 30+ pound plane can do serious damage to others.

TBM RECOMMENDATION: TBM recommends that you use 2 MPI Miracle Switches (with Y-harnesses for two aileron servos) for 100cc planes or smaller. Power Expanders are nice, but certainly not necessary in those planes. We tested them thoroughly, and make this recommendation based on that testing.

For 150cc planes and larger, we strongly recommend the use of a Power Expander with two 4-cell LiIon battery packs. The Power Expander that you choose is up to your needs. If you need to match servos on any surface, the Power Expander with built in equalizer is the way to go. If you are using Hitec servos, you can use a Hitec programmer to match the servos, though the programmer is more difficult to use. If you are using JR servos, you can use a Matchbox to match the servos as well, but I don't like the idea of one plug from the Matchbox powering multiple servos, and I don't like dealing with an extra battery.

To power the Power Expander, I recommend the SuperReg. While there are many other options, I like this option best. For switches for the SuperReg, I prefer the Smart Fly fail safe slider switch. The flags look really good, though dealing with the flags is not convenient enough for me. There are many other options which work very well. The only thing you should not do is use an MPI 5.4v or 6v (not adjustable) regulator on a 150cc plane.
